OUR 4 C’S
It takes courage to contemplate therapy and ask for help. Showing up & allowing yourself to be truly seen & be authentically you, does come with vulnerability. Yet it also takes courage to endure what you’re managing right now. So change is absolutely possible, depending on where you choose to focus your courage.
Far too often, we sacrifice our own needs, to attend to the needs of others. We forget what self care and compassion look like & we abandon ourselves. Therapy can help us show up for ourselves, with a compassionate voice. This can reduce anxiety, anger & depression, whilst also building respectful healthy relationships.
There is likely, a wounded inner child in all of us. That child who had to adapt in order to please or who rebelled for a number of reasons. Therapy’s creative process of collaboration & expression helps to lead us back to a sense of that present, in the moment, care free child. Releasing stuck emotions, & healing from past wounds.
Through therapy, our sense of being can shift and begin to align with our true values & choices. By understanding & challenging patterns of relating to ourselves and others and learning to let go of those patterns & thoughts that no longer serve us, we can begin to move towards authenticity, calmness & wellbeing.
SPECIALISM
Janine has over 18 years of experience working with children and families within education and care settings. Her chosen specialty is supporting parents facing emotional difficulties due to family and relationship breakdowns in communication and connection and difficult behaviour management. Janine can offer a wealth of knowledge to parents regarding child development, communication strategies, behaviour management and resolving stuckness within the family unit. Janine can also support parents of young people who are attending mainstream school, with a diagnosis or a profile of ASC and/or ADHD, or whose children may be school refusers.
Positive therapeutic outcomes are attributed to working with parents and caregivers. We support them in supporting their young person. This is achieved, through a unique individualised programme that focuses on Brofenbrenner’s Ecological System’s Theory approach, Family System’s Theory, Play Therapy. and Attachment Theory.
Courage2Be’s focus is unique compared to traditional methods of child therapy that tend to focus on the child as separate from their environment.
Our model focuses on supporting parents in viewing their young people not only as individuals but within their wider context and environment. We look at the family unit dynamics, the parenting role and relationships with school, extended family members and the young person’s physical and online community.
We believe that working as a team with parents and caregivers, is paramount in achieving effective social and emotional change for young people and positive family relationships.
