Nic Biggs, Counsellor

Nic Baldwin Biggs

Some days it may feel like you are ploughing through treacle, others like you are on a speeding train and you don’t know how to get off! Life can throw all kinds of challenges in our paths and leave us feeling totally overwhelmed or completely alone. Even if you are surrounded by family and friends it is not always easy to share how you really feel which can leave you feeling invisible or isolated.

If these are feelings you experience then you are not alone. I offer a space where you can come and share your truth without fear of judgement. Saying out loud how you are feeling can be a powerful and helpful process. I work in a person centred way where we agree to work around the things that you want to bring and feel comfortable with. The pace and tone of the sessions is set by you and I strive to  work with you to create a safe and accepting place for you to explore what’s happening in your world and the effect is having on your mood and wellbeing.

During our first session we will look at your expectations and goals to ensure you feel I am able to offer you the kind of support you are looking for. We will have regular reviews to check that you are working in a way that is helpful and this will give us a chance to look at focuses for future sessions. This is your counselling journey and it is important to me that you feel secure and heard during the time we work together.

If you decide this kind of counselling is something you are interested in then please get in touch for an assessment and I look forward to meeting you soon.

Counselling Experience

I initially entered the world of counselling as a support worker for Child Bereavement UK. During my time volunteering for the charity I was a befrieder for young people who had lost a sibling.  Later I trained to become a support worker for group sessions and would work with children over a course of workshops who had lost a parent.

Experience working with children, led to a keen interest in counselling in schools. My primary focus has been working with Sixth Form students around exam stress and social anxiety;  11-15 year olds experiencing emotional difficulties that are brought up through family break ups; bereavement; self harm and anxiety. I really enjoy working with young people and I am able to offer creative ways of working if talking becomes too challenging.

Alongside working with children, I am based at Mind, counselling  adults in Aylesbury. This work is rich and varied ranging from difficulties with addiction to carers and elderly clients experiencing loneliness and isolation. Anxiety and depression are often primary presenting issues but through our work we are able to identify other events and situations that have triggered or continued the difficult emotions and feelings that may be creating an imbalance during everyday life.

I have the upmost respect for all my clients and the courage they show to turn up and face their fears. I am very passionate and committed to our work together and feel inspired when I see and hear the positive changes and progress clients make and feel during the course of their counselling journey.
